Under the auspices of the President of Koya University Prof. Dr. Wali M. Hamad, the Department of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Zhnan-Women’s Union of Kurdistan and The KRG’s High Council of Women Affairs has organized a workshop under the title of: The Status of Women in Sharia & Law and their Roles, on Monday, 08 March 2021. The workshop started at 10:00 am which lasted for 3 hours at the University’s Presidency’s Hall. Needless to mention that a number of nearly 180 participants inclusive of guests, students, academic staffs and other participants from both inside and outside of the University attended the workshop.
The workshop started with a welcome speech by the University’s President firstly at 09:45. Two panels were selected that carried variety of topics. The first panel started at 10:00 am. The first panel was chaired by Dr. Rebwar Jabar, the Deputy Dean, and lecturer at the Department of Law, FHSS, Koya University.
In this panel, four speakers were invited to the stage. The first speaker was Dr Rebwar Hamid, lecturer at the Department of Law, FHSS, Koya University. Dr Hamid talked about the Ownership of Natural Resources in the Islamic Perspective. The second speaker, Dr Wala’ Jawdat, who was from Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University, talked about Oil Sector and its Administrative and Economic Problems. As the second speaker, Dr Vyan Sulaiman’s topic, the head of the Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University, focused on Transparency in Oil and Gas Contracts in Kurdistan Region. The third speaker, Dr Rebaz Ardalan, a lecturer at the Department of Law, FHSS, Koya University, brought a legal review for DANA Gas case. Later on, a number of questions and comments heard from the audience followed by a short discussion.
Next, there was a break and refreshments for 15 minutes. The second panel started at 11:30am which was on. The panel Started at 11:45, which was chaired by Dr Rebwar Hamid, a lecturer at the Department of Law, FHSS, Koya University. In this panel, three speakers from the Department of Law, FHSS, Koya University were invited to the stage. The first one was Dr Yadgar Kamal Ahmmad, who talked about the Relationships between Oil Pipelines and Transboundary Rivers. The second speaker was Dr Shwan Omar Khudhur, the Dean of FHSS, Koya University, focused on the KRI’s [Legal] Authority to Conclude Oil and Gas Contracts. Finally, Mr Rebwar Mohammed Amin, an outside speaker from PUK media, was the third speaker and discussed the Amendments in KRI’s Oil contracts from National and International Law Perspectives. Like the first panel, before the end of the panel, a number of questions and comments raised from the audience, and were answered by the speakers. Later on, certificates of appreciations were awarded to all the speakers of the two panels. The Workshop formally ended at 12:30.
Last but not least, the University provided 87 certificates of participation (CAD) to the participants.
