A Koya University lecturer conduct his post-doctoral research on the solar energy

Dr. Mohammad Ghaffar who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Health and Science and Department of Physics, has conducted his post-doctoral research on the scholarship of Marhaba Project into the solar energy.
“I was able to succeed in doing my post-doctoral study on the scholarship of Marhaba Project at the University of Santiago De Compost Ella in Spain for six months, during October 1st, 2016 to April 1st, 2017.” Dr. Mohammad Gaffar Said.
On the importance of his subject which he has conducted his post-doctoral research Dr. Mohammad stated that “This research is classified within the field of renewable energy which is also called Green Energy"
Dr. Mohammad’s research has been on the usage of plastic with some inorganic chemicals to produce solar cells.
The ultimate aim of this investigation is to use Plastic (Polyimide and polyethylene terephthalate) as substrates for thin-film solar cells.
The Abstract of the research:
The use of flexible polymer substrates for optical applications, and especially for energy production devices as solar cells, is gaining a great interest because they can provide advantages such as light weight, high shock resistance and scalable roll-to roll preparation procedures. In particular, investigations about ZnO and CdS thin films on flexible polymeric substrates such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyimide (PI) for such intended applications are gaining immense interests due to their flexibility, light-weight, low-cost, and band gap energies even within the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Due to these facts, both materials have found wide applications as substrates in thin film solar cells.
