Joint Workshop on the New Directions of Accountancy and Auditing

Under the auspices of the President of Koya University Prof. Dr. Wali M. Hamad, the Department of Administration and Accountancy, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with the Board of Supreme Audit-Erbil organized a joint workshop under the title of: New Directions of Accountancy and Auditing on Wednesday, 11 November 2020. The workshop started at 09:30 am which lasted for 3 hours at the Judge Nazm Hawezi Hall. A number of nearly 130 participants, inclusive of guests, students, academic staffs and other participants from the two organizations attended the workshop.
The workshop started with a welcome speech by the University’s President firstly at 09:45, followed by Assist Pro Dr Shwan Omar, the Dean of FHSS, Koya University. Later one, two panels were designated. The first panel started at 10:00 am. The first panel was chaired by Dr. Wala’ Jawdat, a lecturer at the Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University.
In this panel, two speakers were invited to the stage. The first speaker was Mr. Azad Maarof Abdullah, from the Board of Supreme Audit-Erbil. He talked about the Institute of Chartered Accountant, Origin and Development. The second speaker, was Prof. Dr Sirwan Karim Essa, talked about the Challenges of Transition to the Application of Accounting and Financial reporting standards Dr Wala’ Jawdat, who was from Department of Administration and Accountancy. The panel ended with questions and comments session heard from the audience.
Next, there was a break and refreshments for 15 minutes. The second panel started at 11:30am which was on. The panel started at 11:45, which was chaired by Dr Brwa Sardar Ahmad, lecturer Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University. In this panel, four speakers from the Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University were invited to the stage. The first one was Dr Basima Falih Naeemy, who talked about Joint Auditing in Kurdistan Region-Iraq. The second speaker was Dr Worya Burhan Ahmad, the Strategies of (IASB) in International Accounting Compatibility. Dr Vyan Sulaiman Al-Salihy, the head of the Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University, was the third speaker. She focused on Innovative Accountancy. The last speaker was Dr Luqman Muhammad Saeed, from the Department of Administration and Accountancy, FHSS, Koya University, and talked about How to Measure and Recognize Revenue under the Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS15)? As well as the first panel, a number of questions and comments raised from the audience, and were answered by the speakers. Later on, certificates of appreciations were awarded to all the speakers of the two panels. The Workshop formally ended at 12:30.
Last but not least, the University provided 60 certificates of participation (CAD) to the participants.
